Both CQIA (Certified Quality Improvement Analyst) and CQPA (Certified Quality Process Analyst) are the entry level certifications offered by the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

CQIA is for anyone supporting a quality improvement initiative in the organization.

CQPAs are for people who are interested in making Quality as their career.

ASQ Definition


The Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) has a basic knowledge of quality tools and their uses and is involved in quality improvement projects, but doesn't necessarily come from a traditional quality area.

The Certified Quality Process Analyst (CQPA) is a paraprofessional who, in support of and under the direction of quality engineers or supervisors, analyzes and solves quality problems and is involved in quality improvement projects.

Requirements are same for both certifications

Candidates must have two years of work experience, or an associate degree or two years of equivalent higher education.
