Difference Between ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008
Like many other Standards ISO 9001 is subject to review to determine either it is still relevant or need some up gradation. usually the review period is about 5-6 years depends upon the level of significant changes. whenever the new version issued the previous one becomes minor and not applicable for certification. the third revision of ISO was done in 2000 and implemented in 2003, latest version of ISO 9001 is ISO 9001:2008. This new version released on Nov 15, 2008. In this version changes are more based on clarification of existing requirements rather than including new ones.
Major Changes in ISO 9001:2008 have been summarized as follows:
1. Reinforcements over the control of outsourced processes that effect product conformity to requirements.
2. Management representative has to be member of the organization not an external individual.
3. Competence of all personnel affecting conformity to product requirements must be controlled by the organization.
4. Additional guidance to expalin the differnt methods on measuring and monitoring the customer satisfaction.
6. For internal audits, the management of the audited unit must ensure that necessary correction and corrective actions have been taken
7. Clarification that information systems are included as part of company's infrastructure.
8. New requirements for the effectiveness of corrective and prevent actions
